Samsung Expert RAW - How to Get the Most Out of Your Smartphone's Camera
Samsung Expert RAW is a free camera app that gives you a lot more control over your Galaxy phone's sensors. It's similar to the standard app's Pro mode in that you can change a variety of settings, including ISO, EV, and shutter speed, as well as manually focus on a subject. The big difference is that the app can save photos in RAW format, as well as a lossless JPEG and 16-bit Linear DNG, and also includes a histogram.
The only catch is that you'll need a Galaxy smartphone with One UI 5.1 or higher to get the most out of it. You'll also need a Samsung account to use it, as you can't download the app from Google Play or other third-party stores.
Those conditions aside, Samsung Expert RAW is an excellent tool for anyone who wants to take their mobile photography skills up a notch, whether they're a casual snapper or a serious photographer. And thanks to a recent update, it's even easier to use.
The latest version of the app is 2.0.08.5 and includes a number of improvements, most notably support for manual configurations on all sensors in the device (including the telephoto lens). You can now adjust exposure values, focus, ISO, shutter speed, focal aperture, and white balance, plus save photos in lossless JPEG or 16-bit linear DNG and RAW formats with histogram. The app is also compatible with Samsung's High-efficiency RAW image format, which reduces storage usage.
